If you're a mommy-to-be, there is a lot going on for you right now. On top of the physical changes and demands that come from growing a tiny human, you're probably also feeling some stress, anxiety, and mental strain from all the baby preparations you're making.
It can be easy to overlook just how important it is for you to take care of yourself during this time. After all, a healthy you will greatly help in supporting the growth and development of a healthy baby-to-be.
Here are 10 tips for self-care during your pregnancy! (Please note, I am not a medical professional. The tips listed below are based on my own experience. Always consult your medical practitioner with any mental or physical concerns throughout your pregnancy.)

Pregnancy can bring on dry, itchy skin, especially on your growing belly. Get some unscented moisturizing lotion, and use it often! Keeping your skin well-moisturized will help you feel better throughout pregnancy, and certainly much less itchy.

You will probably feel extra thirsty during your pregnancy. This is your body's way of telling you that you should up your water intake! Always have a water bottle next to you so you can stay hydrated throughout the day. This is so vital to your and baby's health - especially when it's hot outside!
3. Eat Well
Your body needs to be properly fueled in order to provide you and your baby with all the necessary nutrients during pregnancy. Of course, you should be taking your prenatals daily. But that doesn't mean you should ignore what you're actually eating!
Aim to get in lots of fruits and veggies everyday, as well as calcium-rich dairy products, iron-rich meats, and whole grains. You won't be perfect everyday, but eating healthy as a general rule during pregnancy will leave you feeling better, knowing you're doing what you can to help baby grow.
Even if it's just a walk or doing some basic cleaning at home, it's important to get yourself moving everyday during pregnancy. This self-care element will help you to keep up some of that muscle tone that will come in handy during delivery. It'll also help you to feel better about yourself and avoid too much weight gain.
While movement is important, so is rest. Pregnancy will likely zap your energy, especially right at the beginning and then again towards the end. Take advantage of any opportunities you may get to nap. Lounge with your feet up to help with swelling.
Don't be too hard on yourself. Listen to your body, and give it the rest it needs.
6. Relax Your Mind
When your thoughts are racing from what could possibly go wrong during delivery to what kind of bottles you should get for your baby, take some time to relax your mind. Find something that calms and relaxes you mentally, such as getting lost in a good book or watching your favorite comedy for the ninetieth time.

7. Take a Bath
One of my favorite ways to take care of myself during pregnancy (and even when I'm not pregnant) is to take a warm bath. During pregnancy, you'll want to make sure the water isn't too hot so that you don't overheat. I avoided baths all together during the first trimester just to be safe, but since then, I have been in the bath almost everyday!
I love to unwind at the end of the day will some aromatic bubble bath or bath fizzers. The warm water and sweet scent create a calming environment for me and baby.
8. Experience Nature
If you're looking to truly take care of yourself during pregnancy, remember to take some time to unplug and get out in nature. Take a walk outside, maybe in the woods, through a field, or even in a park. Connect with the beauty of nature around you. Appreciate it. Allow it to calm you and center you. You'll be amazed how refreshed you feel after taking in the perfection and tranquility of nature.
9. Be Creative
Caring for your mind involves finding outlets for your creativity. We all have it inside of us somewhere. It's just a matter of discovering the ways you enjoy being creative, and how you can express yourself.
You might love creating your own recipes, doing crafty projects, or playing an instrument. Maybe you love drawing or want to try out pregnancy journaling.

10. Pamper Yourself (While You Can)
There will soon come a time when your sweet baby is here and your time to pamper yourself is severely limited, maybe nonexistent for a while. So take some time to pamper yourself now! Get a pedicure, a massage, or a cute new haircut. You'll be glad you did!
